By nature he’s charming
Downright disarming —

He’s everyone’s instant good friend

His presence seems quite providential
This expounder of learning experiential

This teacher and guide
Who’s signed on for this ride —

His made himself extremely essential

The people who are putting their hands on him!
The delightful diversity of demands on him!

The claims for his time
Continue to climb —

As everyone tries to lay plans on him

Steve always seems to be beaming —
At least that’s the way it’s been seeming

This Iowa native
So clear and creative —

Sometimes we think that we’re dreaming

All of great dreams we conceive —
The high goals that we strive to achieve —

We all are so grateful —
And it seems almost fateful —

That here on our team we have Steve
