They said, “Farewell,
Ye Olde Stairwell —
You’re hereby changed to a Grand Hotel.”
The space was cleared
And chandeliered
Video cables disappeared.
The bases boarded
Steps de-corded
“The jig is up,” the mice reported
The walls re-coated
Dust demoted
“The gloom is gone!” the moths emoted
Switchplates switched
Shoe racks ditched
The very atmosphere enriched
With little toil
For mortal coil
One-Fifty-Four is far more royal
A gift’s been gifted
Our life’s been shifted
Its quality has been uplifted
These stairs to heaven
Are fit for Bevan
As well as fit for Mrs. Levin*
A clear cognition
A great decision —
To see the world with bright Wynne vision!
Where’er we roam
To desk or dome
That Stairwell is our “Welcome Home”
We now stand tall
Within the hall
So thanks to Wynnes from one and all
* “Mrs. Levin” is Helen Levin, mother of Dr. Susie Dillbeck, who advised us in early years on accreditation matters.
