ROD
Rod is a spiritual sort —
Deep transcender, by every report
And along with that bliss
There also is this:
Rod has a deep passion for sport
He knows all the teams, all the stats
The standings, the scores, the at-bats
The players, the trades,
The stars’ escapades
On the fields, the courts, and the mats
Sweet Sixteen — Rod’s in bliss! . . . Elite Eight . . .
Final Four — and ah, life is so great!
The semi’s, the final
Bliss beams up the spinal . . .
Then baseball takes over the slate!
He’s a sportsman himself, to his core
Just look at him out on the floor —
He’s a wonder to see
At the top of the key
As he drives down the lane for the score
He’s truly a marvel to see
As he steals the ball and breaks free —
The stadium roaring
The crowd all adoring
As he hits the long jumper for three
A Silicon Valley career
In sales, with Rod in high gear —
Rod rose aloft —
Then a thought came, quite soft . . .
And Rod and his family moved here
As a teacher, he ranks Number One
As a scholar, he’s second to none
As a leader, world class —
In all, unsurpassed —
In each of his roles he’s Top Gun
Rod puts up points on the board
He always strikes just the right chord
With Rod on our team
The team is a dream
We’re thrilled at the star that we’ve scored
He’s balanced, he’s rational, reasonable
His sunniness always is seasonable
He’s firm when it’s applicable
But always unflapplicable —
Truly, the man is Rod Easonable
Now VP of everything, almost
Enrollment is now his goalpost
Getting students, retaining them,
Nourishing, sustaining them —
All success to him in this new post
On his birthday we give him a nod
We’re not going to claim that he’s God —
But he know what he is
And the brilliance that’s his —
As so: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ROD
