Jerry Albrent

Originally from Wisconsin, Jerry Albrent was one of the members of the legendary “CEG” — the Council of Executive Governors, close to 200 in all, TM teachers who came to MIU starting in the fall of 1977 to help administer the university. All had learned the TM-Sidhi program, which Maharishi had recently introduced, and Maharishi wanted the university to be administered by people practicing these advanced techniques for development of consciousness.

Jerry was the director of the Financial Aid office, then located at the south end of Verrill Hall (known as building 402 at the time). He was greatly good humored and quick witted, also somewhat small of stature — and always well dressed, typically in a three-piece suit.

Prior to coming to MUM, he taught the Transcendental Meditation technique. After leaving the university he helped set up and manage multiple Maharishi Ayurvedic Health Centers, and he served as Director at Maharishi Ayurvedic Products International.

From 2002 to 2016 he worked at the AspenPointe mental health center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he still lives. He has served for many years as a board member of the Colorado Springs chapter of PFLAG, Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays.
