Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..”, comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

LES

These limericks refer to her days as Registrar and subsequent shift to overseeing the Development Council.

We’re lauding that lady named Les
A person with the power to bless

She’s truly a beauty
The Registrar cutie

More than these words can express

Virtues — she’s got them galore
Imagine what still is in store

Her power of attention
Adds new dimension

To that famous thought: “Les is more”

She shines like a radiant star
She dazzles us even from far

She shows us each day
It’s now what you say —

What counts is what you Registrar

With her there’s no thought to be fearful
Les is unfailingly cheerful

And talk about wit —
She’s loaded with it:

If you’re looking for jokes, she’s an earful

In action, she’s consummate skill
At center, she’s so very still

She’s 30 today,
And you know what they say?

She’s finally on top of the hill.

And now she’s moved on to big bucks
As always, still plenty of yucks

And as she grows wealthier
Heartier, healthier,

We laud our dear lady of luck

We wish her the highest success
The lady who always says yes

She’s truly invincible
And here’s a new principle:

We’ll settle for anything Les!
